But if you've got 3 more minutes...
Let me tell you how it all started.
Back in 2015 my friend Benjamin asked me if I could help his friends learning Italian.
At that time I was studying Languages, cultures, literatures and translation at the University of Rome La Sapienza.
I told him I had never done that before, but I could give it a try. So I started to collect material, buying books and so on, and next week I began to tutor my first students.
From lesson number one, I totally fell in love with it.
I remember how excited I was after my first lessons with Kari and Wilfredo, my first students.
From 2015 to 2017 many things happened: my graduation with full marks at the University (110 cum laude/110), projects abroad, and more students to tutor.
In 2017, I decided I wanted to get deeper into the teaching Italian field.
Somehow I felt I needed to discover more about methods, approaches.
I decided to register to a full time training course for teachers of Italian as a second language at Torre di Babele, a pillar in the teaching field.
That course literally changed my life and there is where I finally became a true Teacher.
I studied and practiced to prepare first DITALS I and then DITALS II exams and I got the certificates.
In 2018 Torre di Babele called me to work with them, to teach Italian to non native speakers.
Something like a dream that becomes reality.
It was a booster for my career and my experience, I learned so many things it's impossible to summarize.
Unfortunately in 2020, with COVID-19 pandemic, Torre di Babele closed forever after 35 years of majestic work.
It was like losing a second home, but I decided not to give up.
In 2020 I became my own boss.
I found a very good accountant (thank you, Antonio!) and I registered as an official freelance teacher.
I work with students from all over the world with enthusiasm and professionalism.
I have to admit that I really like to be a freelance, or libera professionista, as we say in Italian.
In order not to miss the constant training, the positive confrontation and to develop even more my methods and skills, I decided to enroll in a master's degree in Teaching Italian as a Second Language at Roma Tre University, where I learned more about educational approaches and techniques. I graduated with honors (110 cum laude/110).
My main fields of interest are:
Task-based language teaching (TBLT)
Dogme language teaching
Pedagogy of Multiliteracies
Game-based language teaching (GBLT).
