The Language Quest: Master Italian through Role-playing Games
I am happy to announce that Italian courses through role-playing games will begin.
It will be a perfect opportunity to practice and improve your Italian while having fun and immersing yourself in a fantastic story.
What is a role-playing game?
A role-playing game is a game in which players take on the role of one or more characters and through conversation create an imagined space, where fictional facts and events take place, in a fictional setting that may be inspired by a novel, movie or other creative source.
How does role-playing work?
A game master leads the game session, creates the setting and prepares a story plot. He proposes to the players (the students) the situations in which their characters find themselves and asks them what they intend to do. The players state the actions their characters take, describing or acting them out. The game master then shows the result of these actions, consistent with the setting and rules of the game.
Why should you participate in the course? What are the benefits?
Improved language skills: a role-playing game offers a unique way for students to practice their Italian, as they are required to use the language to communicate with other players and describe the action taking place in the game. This can help to improve their oral comprehension, oral production, and overall language proficiency.
Increased confidence: By practicing their Italian in a supportive and non-threatening environment, students can gain confidence in their language abilities, which can help them to communicate more effectively in real-life situations.
Development of social skills: a role-playing game requires students to interact with each other, which can help to develop social skills such as teamwork, communication, and negotiation.
Development of problem-solving and critical thinking skills: a role-playing game often requires players to solve problems and make decisions in real-time, which can help to develop problem-solving and decision-making skills. Also, role-playing games require players to think critically about the choices they make and the consequences of their actions, which can help to develop critical thinking skills.
Increased creativity: a role-playing game offers students the opportunity to use their imaginations which can help to enhance their creativity and improve their storytelling skills.Â
